Roger Dyson goes back to the future at AVRO EX
Fond memories will come flooding back for leading vehicle recovery equipment manufacturer Roger Dyson when he takes on the role of main sponsor at AVRO EX 2010 next month.
The decision by the Association of Vehicle Recovery Operators to hold its annual show on 8th-9th October at The Chateau Impney hotel and exhibition complex in Droitwich, Worcestershire, was good news for Roger Dyson Group, whose showroom and manufacturing plant is located less than a mile away.
The company will use AVRO EX 2010 to unveil two exciting new additions to its range. One is a completely new product about which Roger is remaining tight-lipped until its launch. The other is an adaptation of its Hydraloader SLa (Super Low approach) slidebed, which incorporates a fixed cover for the first time. Based on a 12-tonne Mercedes-Benz chassis and built for Surrey-based operator Car Recovery, this body offers all of the benefits of a conventional covered transporter, but adds the SLa’s market-leading load angle and unrestricted access to the car being transported when the deck is deployed.
AVRO EX was originally held at The Chateau Impney 30 years ago – as well as being the first trade show created specifically for the recovery industry, it also marked Roger Dyson’s debut on the public stage and he used the opportunity to present his Invader cranes and early examples of the Hydraloader slideback range.
“We were based just down the road in Redditch at the time,” recalls Roger. “But we moved to our Droitwich plant in 1980 so this year’s exhibition is literally on our doorstep – it’s like going back to the future, but our company, and its future, look very different today.”
The main sponsorship event at AVRO EX 2010 is the Lady President’s Gala Dinner. Up to 150 exhibitors, operators and their guests will dine and dance the night away to the sounds of a live band.
AVRO EX Co-ordinator John Rogers, a director of Leicester-based Unity Recovery, says: “Roger’s support for this event is greatly appreciated and I think I’m right in saying he’s the only exhibitor who’s still with us from those very early days at The Chateau Impney.”
Adds Roger: “Ours is a tight-knit industry and AVRO EX 2010 provides a great opportunity to catch up once again with customers new and old. I’m delighted that we’re able to give our support by sponsoring the weekend.”Back to News & Events
