It’s showtime for Roger Dyson!
Recovery vehicle specialist Roger Dyson has been showing his hand with high-profile appearances already this summer – and there’s more to come!
The Roger Dyson Group stand was widely reckoned to be the most impressive at Tow Show 2010 in Telford, where the Droitwich-based company displayed no fewer than four vehicles, each with a different model of Dyson body.
Pride of place went to one of the show’s biggest draws, the ground-breaking Dyson Hydraloader 8000SLa. Mounted on a DAF CF 8x2 chassis, it is the biggest accident unit Roger Dyson has ever built.
The truck has an 8,000kg capacity steel bed that offers a loading angle of just five degrees. It also boasts a 4,000kg second vehicle lift and a 50-tonne/metre PM50025 five-extension crane that extends to 14.35m and operates in conjunction with a Dyson Hydra clamp damage-free lifting frame. Other features include a 14,000lb sliding platform winch and extra rear stabiliser jacks. The slidebed platform, second vehicle lift, crane and winch are all fully remote controlled.
No surprise, then, that this impressive piece of equipment – which will shortly enter service with NY Recovery, of Snodland, Kent – was awarded the Tow Show’s 2010 Innovation Award, which was presented to Managing Director Roger Dyson by Gillian Brocket of Green Flag.
Dyson also hosted a series of workshops entitled ‘Rotators in Action’ – visitors were able to hear first hand about the capabilities of the unique NRC sliding rotator system, as well as get tips on how to use it to the best advantage. Norbert Pigeon and Bruce Jackson, respectively President and Export Sales Manager of Canadian manufacturer NRC Industries, flew in especially to share their knowledge of using sliding rotators.
“We came to the show in strength to make an impact and it certainly paid off in terms of the high level of interest our presence generated,” said Roger. “We had a lot of enquiries and sold a Fuso Canter with Enforcer 2 vehicle lift, directly off the stand. The ‘Rotators in Action’ presentation was also a very popular draw and went down extremely well.”
Roger Dyson also attended one of the most glamorous events on the motoring calendar, the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
“We were there to show that as well as breakdown vehicles, we also produce a range of transporters, including covered models, which are perfect for moving classic, sports and racing cars,” said Roger.
“A covered Hydraloader SLa, for example, with a completely enclosed body and approach angle of just 4.9 degrees, provides an ideal solution for dealers and owners of some of the superb, historic automobiles on display and in action at the four-day Festival event.”
As the summer continues, the show goes on – Roger and his team are now gearing up for an appearance at Truckfest Scotland, to be held at the Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston, Edinburgh, from 31 July - 1 August.
